- Experience Village Life in a Farmers Camp
Destiny The Farm Resort
Maachli Farm Stay, Maharashtra
Village Activities
We take you through village society which is called “Avaath” to experience grand heritage of old style Konkani houses and superbly built mud houses. Friday is the day of weekly bazaar where you will see people selling local products and all villagers flocked at one place to buy them.
Agro Activities
Take farming experiences like watering trees, plucking coconut and mangoes, climb trees, peel coconut, take out water from a well, learning to use ‘Laath’ a traditional equipment to source water for irrigation. Know various plants, watch birds, butterflies, flowers and visit cowshed, feed cows and milk them. Visit nearby paddy fields in the rainy season and take part in the farming activities.
Nature Activities
Lush greenery, rustic roads flanked by fabulous mountains and beautiful trees give you the feeling of being on different planet, miles away from hustle bustle of the city. Stand in the beautiful natural water-stream in the farm and experience divine tranquility and abundance. Our place is paradise for enthusiastic bird watchers. Visit beaches, mangroves, back-waters, waterfall and preserved forest.
Cultural Activities
Konkan region preserves grand tradition of village rituals called ‘Gav–Rathi’. Each activity has significance in itself. See live performances, as per the schedule of the village. You can also see temples and their unique architecture.
Activities
Tucked away in the lush hinterland off the Malvan coast, Maachli is aptly named after the Malvani word for the temporary machans where farmers camp overnight to protect their crops during harvest season. The 10-acre farm is bordered by a perennial stream, which doubles as a natural fish spa.
You can milk a cow, draw water from the well, visit a potters’ village and learn the traditional way of tapping water from the stream. Take a tour to see how coconut, betel nut, bananas, mangoes and a variety of spices are grown. You can also learn to cook ethnic Malvani cuisine, at the kitchen, where farm-fresh organic vegetables are chopped on traditional cutters and food is prepared on a mud stove.
If you want to step out, go on the morning nature trail through the grasslands, plantation and jungles, or the sunset trek to the coast, which meanders through coconut groves, mango orchards, plateaus and an ancient sacred grove.
The farm is located at Parule in Maharashtra.
