Lal Paharir Deshe. Jhargram, West Bengal
Take a trip to the land of the saal, piyal trees, and mango groves. Experience true essence of nature, a welcoming smile, warm hospitality, clean organic food, many friendly faces, all surrounded by wild flowers, singing birds, and the visiting elephants. Spend your time trekking in the woods at Jhargram, climbing trees, taking a bath in the stream nearby, or just lying on a hammock.
Shalboni is 170 km from Kolkata by road, and just 10 km from Jhargram. Originally the "Maharaja Udyan Bati", this 40 acre farmhouse was once a farmhouse of the Malla Kings. Later it was taken over by the British. This is an ideal place to experience forest life and tribal culture. Rooms with aesthetically crafted elements complement the natural surroundings.
You will surely take some time to explore the farmhouse’s natural surroundings and the extensive jungle all around, with its variety of saal, teak, mahua, cashew, and mango trees. There is plenty to see around the farmhouse, like the textile printing works of Printex, a small zoo, the government Ayurvedic medicinal plant garden and a spring well nearby.
